LINK TO THE ITINERARY

Many of the travelers only spend two to three days in the mountain region around Sa Pa. But because we still have a lot to write about our trip to China, interviews for the press, stories to send to magazines, contact with our cooperation partners, our bikes need an extensive service check plus new drive sprockets, chain and brake pads, I have to fit a completely new drawbar bracket to our dog trailer, we are planning the route ahead of us, and because we just want to take a deep breath, we will spend at least four to six weeks here. “That long?” wonder many tourists whose entire stay in Vietnam will be no longer than two to three weeks. As long-term travelers, we are subject to completely different time management. While a vacationer can use every day to see something or lie on the beach, we spend a lot of time researching the country, its history, geographical features, religions, political situations, its sights and why these places were built in the first place. For us, it is a constant learning process, an on-the-spot study that we undertake in order to know where we are and where we are moving. We incorporate the selected facts and data into our stories in order not only to describe a personally experienced journey to “you dear readers”, but also to convey a country and its inhabitants in the most interesting and informative way possible and to open up aspects of it.

Even if I sometimes delve into the depths of a topic during our reporting, my notes can only reflect a tiny part of a country. Even if we spent our entire lives in just one country, a comprehensive, objective description of it would be completely impossible. The diversity of a country is too extensive. And yet we hope to provide entertaining and interesting insights with our personally experienced stories. However, it is not only the texts that are important, but also our images, some of which take more time to produce than anything else. Being out and about by bike is particularly strenuous on some days. Especially with the many inclines, heavy rain, cold, heat, etc. For every motif, we stop, put the bike on the stand, unpack the camera, set it up, select the section and press the shutter release. This results in an average of 100 pictures a day. Sometimes even up to 500 images. In the evening I feed the pictures from the camera into the laptop, edit every single one, throw away the not-so-good ones, number the remaining ones, add keywords and captions. I need up to eight hours for 100 shots. We now have over 10,000 photos in the box. We constantly publish the best ones on our website, Facebook and Instagram. Link:

. In addition to the written experiences, picture stories are also created. As pictures sometimes say more than text, they are more important than ever in our documentation work. We hope you continue to enjoy reading and looking at our photos and thank you for your interest…
