LINK TO THE ITINERARY

As we sit on our bikes in the morning wearing shorts and T-shirts, a cold wind blows against us. After the heat of the past few days, it’s hard to believe. We stop and unpack the long pants and jackets that we have already stowed at the bottom of our bike bags. The sky is cloudy again. Gray clouds drift over the mountain ridges this morning. Although the merciless sun was very hard on us, we miss it more and more every hour, as we have had enough winter and bad weather over the last eight months. Because of the bad traffic on the main roads, I have been navigating us along small mountain roads for months. Although this is exhausting due to the sometimes nasty slope conditions and endangers our cycling technique, it guarantees us more safety. Even today, on the S207, which we have been following for some time, there is hardly any traffic and the arterial road under construction gives us a peaceful day with lots of potholes, idyllic rice terraces and friendly waving farmers standing up to their knees in water to plant young rice plants.

In the early afternoon we reach the small town of Yiliang in bright sunshine…
