Park-Camp – 03.01.2003

Because there is still so much to tell about the camels and the use of the equipment, we suggest that our visitor stay with us for another day. “Gladly,” they say, and so they march with us today too.

In the afternoon we find a beautiful park where we set up camp. Many decades ago, this square was the original settlement of Capella, but the town was relocated because of the railroad. Lush green grass, tasty thorn bushes and spreading trees provide our hard-working comrades with plenty to eat.

All too soon, the day draws to a close. We all sit together in a group and talk about the possible sale of the camels and equipment. Margaret and Greg now realize that they would like to buy Sebastian. “We urgently need a good lead camel. We have realized that our camels still need years before they are as good as your boys,” says Margaret. As they know that we only sell our camels in pairs, they are immediately prepared to buy Hardie as well. Paul is now on fire. He wants to buy all six animals from us. “You can’t separate the group. I also need a good leader,” he interjects into the conversation. Margaret and Greg are immediately drawn back by Paul’s statement. “If Paul wants to buy all the animals, we can understand that. We don’t want to let anything come between our friendship. Paul was in contact with you first. But we would like to have all the equipment we need for a camel expedition. Let us know what you want in return,” says Greg. “We’ll give you a fair and very good price. You can then pick up the equipment from our destination, Paradise Lagoons,” I reply.

“We still have to think about selling our camels. We’ll decide in the next few weeks,’ I say to Paul. Emotionally, Tanja and I are more drawn to Margaret and Greg. From our point of view, Sebastian, Hardie, Jafar, Istan, Edgar and Jasper have it better with the two of them. Paul’s wife doesn’t like camels and apart from that, Paul is considered a bit fickle. His decisions can change quickly and under no circumstances do we want him to sell the animals on to a bad owner later. However, if Paul wasn’t Margaret and Greg’s friend, they would even take over the entire camel train, at least that’s what they told us.

Torn but euphoric to have found good buyers for our friends, we go to sleep. Unfortunately, Tanja and I are so excited that we hardly get a wink of sleep.
