After a long and interesting evening with Lisa and Patrick, we enjoy breakfast together. As if there had been no break between our conversations, we continue where we left off at 2:30 in the morning. “Do you really want to go on today?” asks Patrick. “Yes, actually. We want to drive the famous Atlantic Road before we go home and as we’re running out of time, we have to hurry,” I reply, even though we’d like to hang out with them for a few more days. “What’s a day in the life? In the revolving restaurant of Trondheim’s TV tower there is a fantastic pizza buffet every Wednesday that is also affordable. You can eat as much pizza as you like while looking out over the illuminated city from a height of 74 meters. You shouldn’t miss it,” says Lisa. I look at Tanja and while I’m still hesitating, Patrick says: “It’s the only revolving restaurant in Norway.” Tanja smiles and nods. “Okay, got it. You’re right. What’s a day in the life? We’d love to go out for pizza with you tonight. My mouth is watering just thinking about it,” I decide.

After using the day to write about our experiences and archive the photos, we meet up with Lisa and Patrick in front of the TV tower in the evening. In fact, the view of the illuminated city is indescribable and the pizzas taste fantastic. We enjoy the carefree time and talk about traveling. “How long do you actually want to stay here?” I want to know. “You mean in Trondheim?” “In Norway?” “Actually, we would be heading south now to spend the winter in Portugal and Spain. Unfortunately, the borders are closed because of Corona, so we’re spending the winter in Norway. Maybe we’ll rent a small apartment. We’ll see,” replies Patrick. “I’ve heard that you’re punished for wild camping in Portugal. Is that true?” I ask. “But yes. Wild camping has become totally rampant in Portugal, which is why the legislation has changed. From 2021, camping vehicles will no longer be allowed in normal parking lots between 9 p.m. and 7 a.m., unless it is expressly permitted. Wild camping in a nature reserve, in particular, can or will be fined over €500. We have even heard of much higher fines. That’s a shame, because Portugal was a country of freedom for us. The pitches there are simply unbelievably beautiful and as a surfer, that hits me right in the heart. I love this country and the waves there are legendary. But in the meantime, the population has had enough of campers leaving their garbage behind. There are certainly only a few black sheep among them, but they are enough to make the barrel overflow. Nevertheless, it is a beautiful country and there are many great official campsites. But we also love Morocco and Tunisia. You absolutely have to go there,” enthuse Lisa and Patrick. “Well then, off to the south,” I say with motivation…
