Fog lifts

N 52°19'13.4'' E 049°09'14.4''

As I look out of the dirty window today, I catch a ray of sunshine. Our mood rises immediately. We leave the dreadful station behind us and cycle north again. The headwind turns into a light crosswind and we make good progress. In the early afternoon, even the monotony of the landscape dissolves with the last wafts of mist. Nature is showing some color again. It looks like we’ve been in a fog hole on the Volga for the past few days. Now the large vein of water lies about 70 kilometers west of us. This may explain why it is much drier on this route.

We find shelter in a trucker’s accommodation. The rooms are clean. However, when it starts dripping from the ceiling onto the beds, we get the deluxe room for twice the price. It is brand new and partly under construction. We wipe the construction workers’ dirt off the floor and out of the shower and then actually enjoy a decent place to stay.

We look forward to your comments!
