Due to the almost unimaginable density of requirements, I can only write a few lines so shortly before departure.
On June 16, 2015, we received the green light from Beijing and the Chinese embassy in Berlin. Yes, we get a 6 month visa. “Hooray!!!” It is a great vote of confidence in us from the Chinese authorities. We are very grateful to those responsible for this. This means we can continue our “Great Journey” and cycle via Siberia, Mongolia, the Middle Kingdom and Vietnam. Many adventures are sure to await us along the way. We are very excited and look forward to finally sitting on the train and letting go of all the preparation stress of the last few months.
The equipment is ready. I hope we haven’t forgotten anything. Including our dog Ajaci, we have to transport around 140 to 150 kilograms per bike. We hope that the technology will not fail and that the Bosch drives and the Riese and Müller bikes will support us well.
I have been on several training courses at Riese und Müller to be able to work on the bikes in an emergency. Yesterday we also had other drive pinions fitted at Bosch. With the 15-tooth sprocket, we should now also be able to climb steep hills.
From now on we will be reporting from the road. I hope the transmission with the Satphone runs smoothly. We are also hoping for plenty of WLAN options. But we’ll see.
