My pitch neighbor Simone, an experienced globetrotter with his expedition vehicle, suggests: “Go over to Buschet, he can make you a sun and privacy screen for your awning.” Simone is here at the campsite preparing for his tour to South Africa, while Tanja is still in Germany at the time. I take this opportunity to make some improvements to our Terra Love.
The nights in Morocco are now relatively cool, between 15 and 18 degrees. Shivering, I get out of bed and decide to turn on the heating for the first time in perhaps seven months. But the display remains dark, which surprises me. After a few unsuccessful attempts and checking all the fuses, I turn to my other pitch neighbor Micha, who is also preparing his Mercedes Zetros 6×6 here on the campsite for a continent crossing to South Africa. Micha is an experienced professional and is immediately on hand to help me.
We are trying to check the Webasto heater with his diagnostic device, but unfortunately we are getting nowhere. After consulting with bimobil and the Webasto service, I decide to dismantle the cupboards in our Terra Love to trace the heater’s power cable back to its source and find possible cable breaks.
Meanwhile, I keep Tanja regularly informed and learn that she will soon be returning to Morocco. This good news gives me confidence and I climb onto the roof of our expedition vehicle every morning to do my morning exercise. I have noticed for some time that the insulation of the KCT roof windows has become brittle and is peeling off. To prevent water from entering the cabin, I grab the tools and silicone and start the repair.
