When we were still in Germany preparing to set off on our Trans-East Journey Stage 3, we had to speed up in order to make the leap into the other world. Once we arrived in Russia, we had to put the brakes on, from 180 to 0. Now there is time again to look at the flowers and talk to people without feeling like we have to go somewhere to meet an appointment or that the person we are talking to barely has time to finish a sentence… Fortunately and thankfully, this is not always the case. At the moment, however, I’m grateful that I can jump off the fast train that is Germany. Of course, this always has to do with ourselves and how we shape our lives. This is how I am working to UNLIMIT our lives. I sincerely wish all of us this DISCOVERY. I am deeply convinced that the things we want will come to us if we don’t rush after them.
So now, today in June, I’m standing at a market in Uralsk, Kazakhstan, watching the hustle and bustle. As long as I keep quiet and don’t say anything, I actually remain unrecognized and don’t stand out as a world jumper. Every now and then I am exposed and people react in an incredibly friendly, helpful and curious way. As soon as I disappear into the crowd again, I have the opportunity to inhale the strangeness and the newness. The various stalls selling eggs, strawberries, dried fish and household items. Usually older people stand or sit behind them. That reminds me of Russia.
I still have a mission to pass on the half kilo of butter and the sour cream (the well-intentioned gifts from the two men and the woman when we entered the country) to someone who can really use them. Denis and I don’t eat as much butter as we get in half a year, and the sour cream doesn’t necessarily like being shaken around on our bikes in warm temperatures. I was able to have the eggs cooked and they made great provisions for us on the way.
In the morning I had seen two children sniffing glue or gasoline out of bags. The only time. Otherwise I only find well-dressed people here, no Bettle. At some point I do find a man looking in the garbage. He is amused when I talk to him, giggles and is pleased when I explain that I hardly understand Russian. He likes the butter very much. Later I also find a pensioner. She is happy about the sour cream and I am happy that she is happy.
The drive here was probably one of the most beautiful on this trip. Tailwind and sunshine, what more does a cyclist need to be happy? This beautiful landscape to the left and right, the trees, the greenery, the fresh air! Just the right topic to draw attention to our green streak. You can now also follow the status of the Green Vein on the website. Please be a part of it and plant trees for all of us! (One tree costs 5 euros)
