We hope for better times again
Day: 45
Heart Camp – 25.06.2000
While herding camels in the morning, we discover that Goola injured his neck during yesterday’s activity. Although a visual examination did not reveal any wounds, he must have pulled one of the vertebrae or muscles in his neck during his wild leaps. Only with some good coaxing and a few tricks are we able to pull the lead rope through the metal eyelet on the halter. He shies away and his further behavior shows fear, which is associated with pain. Tanja and I are now not only giving Istan the anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving medicine. Incidentally, Jafar and Sebastian’s injuries have now healed, but there always seems to be a patient on this trip. Heavy rain and wind force us to set up the mushroom again. We are at least a little protected under it and can spend part of the day reasonably dry. We tuck ourselves into our small sleeping tent early that evening and once again hope for better weather.
