Tanja

On this birthday morning, we have kefir and fruit for breakfast. My dear Denis congratulated me profusely and wished me and us all the best. It has been our custom since the beginning of our time together that the birthday child is king, or in my case queen, and this continues throughout the day of the birthday and even beyond. Today I really benefited from this as I had neglected to clean the front suspension fork on my bike the day before. Normally, that would have earned me a little scolding. With my queen status, this is not an issue today and is taken care of by my beloved Denis.

Inspired by the fact that our journey is now continuing after ten days, we put our unpacked belongings into the Ortlieb bags and carry everything down to our Sumubikes. Our spare parts arrived yesterday and we are super happy to be able to spend today on our bikes again. We leave Pavlodar with ease and make good progress. The journey takes you past many small and somewhat larger salt lakes. The landscape enchants us with the first colorful leaves in the trees and grasses rustling in the wind. After 50 km we stop for a birthday picnic. I bring out the royal treasures that I have cycled to this point from our supplies on this day. Rapunzel beetles and a heart of chocolate, almond milk chocolate, white tahini (sesame butter) and cranberries. I had also bought mandarins, pears, cheese, eggs and fresh bread the day before.

On this day it is not far until we decide to set up camp due to a nearby thunderstorm. When the air has been washed clean by the rain, we leave the shelter of our tent again and I reach into our culinary treasure trove once more for dinner: Rapunzel Pesto Ligure (basil spice paste with parmesan) with spirelli pasta and pine nuts are on the menu.

By the time I’ve prepared the food, Denis has repaired the first flat tire on my trailer. A thorn had pushed its way deep behind the bushes while crossing. Less romantic in my opinion. The work is done in the same way with and without queen status.

We enjoy the peace and quiet and the view of the wonderful nature in our bush camp, listen to the birds, the wind in the trees and drink tea. Gifted by the silence of the steppe, I fall asleep that evening feeling infinitely comfortable.

No wishes remain unfulfilled if you live in the deep awareness of being a contented human being and in the deep confidence of being one with God and ALL THAT IS, whatever everyone may call it for themselves. To know that everything is good and will be good. But dear people and readers, one wish still remains unfulfilled: To share: Mother Earth is alive!

It doesn’t have to be a gift to me personally on my birthday. But we find it a wonderful, nourishing thought to give trees. For a birthday, Christmas or the birth of a child: a tree for just 5 euros.
