Our bikes are ready to go. I replaced all the tires on the trailers. They were worn out after 7,000 kilometers. During my work I discovered a crack at the bottom of the Zargesbox, which is screwed onto a used hanger. Michael, who visits us in the monastery every day, says that the repair would not be a problem. He comes with his friend Alexei. “A man with golden hands,” says Michael. Due to the twisting and bad roads, the damage is much greater than expected. Michael and Alexei repair the cracked floor panel with aluminum sheets that they rivet on from both sides. “Atlitschna” (very good), says Alexei with satisfaction after several hours of work. In fact, the trailer is now much more stable than before. “I think it will hold you all the way to Lake Baikal,” confirms Michael. “What does your friend get for his work?” I want to know later over a cup of tea. “I don’t get anything. I enjoyed being able to help you,” Alexei replies. Well, at least let me pay for the materials,” I reply. “Ha, ha, ha. You’re good. No, no, they were only pennies,” he replies.
