Accident! Interruption of the Trans-East Expedition – Part 2
After a fantastically successful start to our Trans-East Expedition Part 2, you’re probably wondering why we haven’t published any more updates. Now, after almost 20 years and successful expeditions, a serious incident has befallen us. After the first 400 meters of cycling, misfortune struck with an unspectacular but extremely painful accident. The result was a ruptured intervertebral disc whose splinters merged with the spinal nerve. I was paralyzed for 11 days. Tanja and I worried and wrestled with our fate. I was operated on in Bucharest. According to the doctors, the operation was 100% successful. I feel as if Mother Earth or All That Is has given me a new life.
When I am fully recovered, we will continue our Trans-East Expedition Part 2.
We believe that there are no coincidences and that everything makes sense, even if you can’t or don’t want to understand it straight away. Perhaps we will find out one day what the purpose of this accident was.
We have recently returned home. On 25.07.06 I visit the rehabilitation clinic in Herzogenaurach.
The exact report and how we have fared over the last few weeks will be published on our website shortly.
We will also keep you up to date on what actions and steps are planned in the near future. Once again, life has shown us that things often turn out differently than we had planned. You just don’t know where the river of life will take you. Especially for what reason we have to go through the most diverse situations in our lives. For better or for worse. The fact is that if we have the strength to remain open, we can and should learn from every situation. It’s often not easy for me and I could imagine cycling through Romania, camping somewhere on the edge of a forest and experiencing the odd adventure rather than having to go to a rehabilitation clinic. Or should I perhaps write being allowed to go? How easily could the accident have confined me to a wheelchair for the rest of my life? Lucky me!!! But above all, I am delighted that we have been given the chance to continue our life project.
Sunny greetings
