1998. It was the first time that I, founder of famous-water, came into contact with Tanja and Denis Katzer’s projects. Red Earth Expedition, “The Great Journey”, TV reports about adventures and adventurers, the Internet still in its infancy, so I sucked everything I could find out of books and the first forums. And even today, leafing through the beautiful books always leads to great wanderlust.
And we all know it: the world can be a pretty small place sometimes. This applies all the more to the adventurer and overlander scene and the manufacturers in the industry. Through our customers, we found our way to the motorhome manufacturer bimobil, who now install our water filters in many vehicles. And it was through bimobil that we later came into contact with Tanja and Denis Katzer about the need for a self-sufficient water treatment system. The two of them travel the world with their bimobil touring vehicle. It is clear that a good supply of drinking water was a top priority, especially in the remote areas of the world.
And this is where the circle closes. As professionals in the field of drinking water while traveling, we are pleased to support the adventurer, journalist and photographer Denis and his wife Tanja on their travels through our exciting world and to be able to provide drinkable water on their adventures. Because we are also fascinated by the idea of the two of them simply setting off to explore the world and discover it with their own eyes.
A “water-jack fresh” mobile water treatment system with an integrated battery, charge controller and a capacity of approx. 100,000 liters is currently being used for the trip. This can be used to safely treat surface water from almost any freshwater source to make drinking water (but also to treat dubious tap water for safety). Furthermore, there is a permanently installed smaller filter system (capacity approx. 50,000 liters) in the vehicle at a tapping point, which treats the drinking water again directly before consumption. A sustainable and very flexible solution. It is a great pleasure for me personally that we are always able to provide help and advice.
About famous-water
2008. Founding year of famous-water. Since then we have been dealing with the topics of water desalination and water treatment for personal use, for individuals, small groups and NGOs. We developed the world’s first energy self-sufficient, lightweight and mobile seawater desalinator called water-jack. We have always sought paths off the beaten track on our travels. Through the resulting connection to the off-road scene and the recognition of which practical solutions are really lacking, we developed numerous other products in intensive dialog with customers. Much of what we do is tailored to individual needs.
The products in the water-jack range are developed, manufactured and tested by us in our own workshop. Our products are now on the road on all continents of the world (apart from the Arctic).
Thanks to the wide range of possible applications for our solutions, they have grown far beyond the travel and off-road sector. They can also be found on boats, in vacation homes and small villages.
For us, personal advice is not just a slogan on a brochure or the homepage. The positive customer feedback confirms that we will continue along this path and focus on quality rather than quantity.
