I look at my watch, somewhat exhausted from the sleepless night. It’s 7:00 am. Tanja is turning on her side with relish. „Good morning my birthday boy. I wish you all the best. I wish you a long life with me. That your wishes come true and that you continue to be a happy person. I wish you many adventures without danger. That you continue to paint such beautiful pictures and that you always enjoy your art. Above all, I wish you the eternal health and strength of Mother Earth and that our love lasts forever,“ I whisper and hug her tightly. „You said that nicely,“ she replies in a whisper. „What do you say I don’t start writing our update today and we enjoy ourselves on the promenade in Aschach?“ „That’s a good idea. I’ve already thought about it.“

After a hearty breakfast with Maria, we get on our bikes and ride to the Danube in glorious sunshine. „You have to be careful that your stallion doesn’t throw you off!“ shouts Tanja. „That’s right. He’s acting completely wild. It’s unbelievable what a difference it makes when he doesn’t have to pull a cart or carry the saddlebags. This animal is really dangerous!“ I shout happily, driving him to unimagined speeds in seconds. A truck overtakes me. I immediately get behind him and would love to give him the headlight flasher. Tanja and I ride our nags through Aschach until we tie up the unruly, rearing bikes next to an ice cream parlor on the Danube promenade. „It’s your birthday. So you can choose what you want,“ I joke. „Hm, then I’ll have an ice cream.“ „Good idea. I’ll have one too and because it’s your birthday, I’ll order some cream on top. Ha, ha, ha.“ After we have eaten two portions of ice cream each and enjoyed the hustle and bustle on the promenade, we mount our wild horses again and give them the spurs. We ride up and down the riverside cycle path only to settle down in a restaurant next to the ice cream parlor. Tanja orders a salad and I order a Wiener schnitzel. We drink two beers with it. „Would you like some dessert?“ I ask. „Can’t do any more, but maybe you’d like some more?“ „I’m glad it’s your birthday. I think I’ll order two more pound cakes,“ I laugh and wonder if I’ll ever get full again.

In the late afternoon, after a delicious feast, we head back to Hacking. Maria has prepared a dinner for us which we then enjoy. „Would you like another slice of strawberry cake? I’ve baked one for Tanja,“ she offers us. „Phew, I think I’m getting full,“ I groan. „Come on, Tanja only has a birthday once a year. Don’t be like that Denis,“ says Maria and puts a big piece on my plate.

It’s 10:30 p.m. when Franz comes home from his business trip. We warmly welcome you and look forward to seeing you again. Unfortunately, I’ve eaten so much with Tanja that I can’t talk to Franz for long and have to carry my heavy belly into the tent.

We look forward to your comments!
