Camels Shot From Helicopters

Recently we learned that the Australian governments has wild camels shot from helicopters so as to reduce their population. I even saw a short film about it and was absolutely horrified. No marksman can really guarantee to land a deadly bullet, especially from a helicopter, and so there are animals time and again that have to die a miserable death. The wild camel herds are estimated to comprise between 100,000 and 200,000 animals. We cannot understand why they don’t round up the camels and at least process their meat.

Also, camels give wonderful milk that is usable by us people. Not to speak of their fur. Incidentally, Australian camels are nearly free of disease, and therefore rank among the healthiest camels on earth. Camelmen like Inspector Gadget and others export the animals to Saudi Arabia, Asia, South America and Africa.

These are decisively better solutions than to simply shoot this powerful, as yet undiscovered potential. We hope with our trip we can contribute to evoke a better understanding for these wonderful, proud and historic animals and that soon such shootings will be a thing of the past.
